Corrections policy

Corrections should be easy to report and visible when they matter.

Salon Guide distinguishes factual corrections, clarifications, routine updates, and changes in editorial judgment.

How to report an issue

Send the page URL, the specific statement or calculation, the reason it appears incorrect, and a supporting primary or official source when available. Use the correction category on the contact page so the report can be tracked.

How reports are reviewed

The editorial team checks the current page, cited sources, publication context, and any newer authoritative information. High-risk claims may be temporarily qualified or removed while a subject-matter reviewer is consulted.

What changes are disclosed

Typographical and formatting fixes may be corrected without a public note. A material factual correction, formula change, reversed conclusion, or important jurisdiction clarification should update the modification date and include a concise revision note.

What is not changed

We do not remove accurate information because it is inconvenient, nor do we change a methodology or conclusion to satisfy an advertiser or company. Personal information and rights concerns are reviewed separately and may justify removal or redaction.
